Blog: Iowa’s Caitlin Clark Brings Good Times to Maryland’s Xfinity Center

The 3rd ranked University of Iowa Women’s Basketball team rolled into a sold-out University of Maryland’s Xfinity Center on Saturday, Feb. 3 to challenge the Lady Terps in an arena where they have never won.

The 17,950 on hand were here to see Iowa’s #22 Caitlin Clark versus the Terps. The mixed loyalty crowd just wanted a good time. The Girls (and boys too) just wanted to have fun. No one went home disappointed even the though the Terps lost 93-85.

There have been sell-outs before at Xfinity (mostly men’s games) and it was a sell-out for last Saturday night’s women’s game. Caitlin Clark may have been on center court, but the show was in the stands.

From Clark’s opening 3 pointer to the final buzzer the crowd was ooh’d and ahh’d by top level play by both teams. Clark had 38 points and fed teammates on 12 assists while Maryland’s Jakie Brown-Turner and Bri McDaniel had 25 and 22 points respectively.

All this added up to head turning plays that elicited screams of excitement from all in attendance. If you were busy getting a crab pretzel and weren’t watching the floor game, you would not know who the home team or the visitors was. A true testament that these women can play.

Good times for all.
