Bullis hooper repeats as Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year

It is the award that high school student athletes dream about winning. For Ivanna Wilson Manyacka of the Bullis School in Potomac, that dream is a reality twice.

Wilson Manyacka is the Gatorade Maryland Girls Basketball Player of the Year for the second straight year in a row. She’s also been selected as a finalist for the distinguished Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year award to be announced later this month.

The 6-foot-2 junior guard led the Bulldogs to a 24-6 record and the Maryland Private School State Tournament title this past season. Wilson Manyacka averaged 20.7 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.2 steals, 1.9 assists and 1.9 blocks per game.

Wilson Manyacka has volunteered locally with the Chinese Youth Club, and she has donated her time as a youth basketball coach. She has also maintained a B-plus average in the classroom. Wilson Manyacka will begin her senior year of high school this fall.

Gatorade Player of the Year is the top honor in high school sports, celebrating the nation’s best high school athletes for their excellence in sport, academics and community.
