(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios is pleased to host Lori Rounds for the month of October. The exhibit will run from September 30th through October 28th, with a First Friday opening on October 2nd from 5-8pm. Reimagined marks a period of transition in Lori Niland Rounds’ artistic practice - one shaped by interruption, adaptation, and a changing way of seeing.
Faced with an unexpected challenge that made familiar methods of working more difficult, Rounds began to reconsider both process and possibility. What initially felt like constraint gradually opened a different path forward, inviting experimentation with new gestures, materials, and ways of making. Richard Svec shares a mini-solo exhibit in the Lounge Gallery and Resident Artists exhibit new work in the Gallery Hall. Enjoy the sculptural work of Francis Maduka Uduh in studio 11, along with nineteen Gallery 209 Member Artists exhibiting their latest work. Collect a handmade piece of art and support local working artists, makers, and professionals. Light fare generously sponsored each month by The Chesapeake Framing Company.

Bethesda’s renowned food and music festival, Taste of Bethesda will return on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 11 am to 4 pm, promising a delightful fusion of delicious cuisine and vibrant entertainment in the heart of Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle. Organized by Bethesda Urban Partnership, the food and music festival is celebrating its 33rd year, and will showcase the rich culinary diversity of the downtown Bethesda community.

Taste of Bethesda is held on Norfolk, St. Elmo, Cordell, and Del Ray Avenues in downtown Bethesda. The festival will feature four stages of live musical performances and a dedicated children’s area with facepainting, and arts and crafts. The lively atmosphere is perfect for families, foodies, and music lovers alike.

This year's festival introduces a lineup of exciting newcomers including Food Market, Mussel Bar, Ooh La La Bakery, Rosetta and more. The Great Pumpkin Race is a unique side-by-side, single-elimination race featuring handcrafted, decorated pumpkin race cars, in a madcap, dramatic explosion of creative ingenuity. The referee rules the race, building excitement as registered pumpkin race car owners compete for the Pumpkin Race Championship Trophy.

Add wheels to your custom-decorated pumpkin and face off against friends, neighbors or family in single-elimination race heats. Pumpkin racers may collide, veer off course or have the perfect run—whoever crosses the finish line first moves on! Race kits are being sold at the MVF office during regular business hours. $25 kit and $10 hardware only.

The Pumpkin Race caps off the Fall Festival events, which include live music, great food and plenty of children’s activities during this family-centered day.

Gut, Wind, and Wire, an instrumental trio formed by founding members of the internationally acclaimed early music ensemble The Baltimore Consort, features Ronn McFarlane on lute (Gut), Mindy Rosenfeld on wooden flutes, fifes, and pipes (Wind), and Mark Cudek on cittern (Wire), bass viol, and percussion. Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with a FREE Latin Dance class at Maryland Youth Ballet. 

Join Maestra Pau in learning to dance ‘Flor de Pina’, a dance from the state of Oaxaca from the region of Papaloapan. First presented in 1958 and now one of the most anticipated dances in the ‘Guelaguetza’ festival in Oaxaca. Leaving the Jar presents Unmasked: The Masquerade Experience, an elegant evening of immersive exhibits, dinner, and hands-on perfume-making benefiting survivors of human trafficking.

Guests journey through museum-style interactive exhibits, including the "Hidden in Plain Sight" gallery and the "Why Can't They Leave?" experience, paired with powerful storytelling, all wrapped in the mystery and elegance of a masquerade. The evening includes a buffet-style dinner and refreshments, a perfume-making station where guests create a signature scent to take home, and stories of restoration and hope.

Every ticket supports the Well of Hope Home and Leaving the Jar's work to prevent trafficking and walk alongside survivors in the U.S., Egypt, Kenya, and Zambia.

Join multidisciplinary artist Simone Agoussoye for the opening reception of Peace in Broken Pieces, a solo exhibition exploring vulnerability, resilience, self-worth and what it means to find wholeness without returning to who we were before the breaking.

Through portraiture, reflective materials and her signature use of broken and crushed glass, Agoussoye traces a visual journey through The Breaking, The Pieces, The Peace and Wholeness.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) of Montgomery County’s GOTR Pickle-Fest is returning for its
second year! Join us for a day of pickleball to increase awareness about the program and raise money to help ensure every girl who wants to participate can participate in Girls on the Run.

Join us for an artist talk and reception for Visual Feast, an exhibition featuring works by artists Malik Greene, Ashley Ja’nae Gunter, and Ju Yun. 

Experience artwork by three artists who explore concepts of identity and material culture with an exuberant opulence in their approach to media. Luscious paint, vibrant colors, and intricate mixed media delight the eye, providing viewers with a Visual Feast.

The Community Summit (formerly TypeOneNation Summit) is a free community event for anyone living with or caring for a person living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Join your T1D community for a day of support, education, and connection. You’ll hear updates on research and advocacy, participate in interactive breakout sessions, and visit with device companies, camps, and others in the T1D Resource vendor hall. Get to know others in the local T1D community over lunch, which will be provided at no cost. Whether you are family who is dealing with a new diagnosis, an adult who has lived with T1D for many years, a grandparent or caregiver, or a health care professional, there will be something for you! Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in our Youth and Teen program running concurrently with the main program. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
