Join Potomac Conservancy for a fun trash cleanup at Winding Creek Local Park, MD in celebration of National Public Lands Day! Make a huge difference for the Potomac River and local streams as we work towards a healthier and more resilient river!

We will provide all event supplies (trash bags, gloves, trash grabbers, etc.), but we strongly recommend bringing your own if you have one. Once registered, please expect a reminder email on Wednesday before the event with more information regarding our updated safety protocols and what to expect. Join Montgomery Village Foundation staff for a lake cleanup at Lake Whetstone, rain or shine. Wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty, such as long-sleeved shirts, long pants and boots. The Nathaniel H. Pickett II Foundation will host Jog N Jam for Mental Health on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historical Park – Carderock Recreation Area Pavilion in Potomac, Maryland (GPS: 38.9725215, -77.2001899). 

The free community wellness event will promote mental health awareness, healthy lifestyles, and access to mental wellness information and resources.
Registration and check-in begin at 8:00 a.m., followed by a guided yoga stretch and a 9:00 a.m. run start. Participants may walk or jog 10K, 5K, or 2.5K routes, making the event welcoming to a wide range of ages and fitness levels. Under the theme “Bigger. Better. Free!”, this year’s Jog N Jam will combine movement, music, and community engagement through live music, freestyle dancing, instructor-led line dancing, and family-friendly activities. More than a fitness event, Jog N Jam is designed to encourage open conversations about mental health while highlighting the connection between physical activity, social connection, and emotional well-being. The event also advances the Foundation’s ongoing “Growing Minds” initiative, which empowers individuals and communities through education, awareness, and engagement.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) of Montgomery County’s GOTR Pickle-Fest is returning for its
second year! Join us for a day of pickleball to increase awareness about the program and raise money to help ensure every girl who wants to participate can participate in Girls on the Run.

The Community Summit (formerly TypeOneNation Summit) is a free community event for anyone living with or caring for a person living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Join your T1D community for a day of support, education, and connection. You’ll hear updates on research and advocacy, participate in interactive breakout sessions, and visit with device companies, camps, and others in the T1D Resource vendor hall. Get to know others in the local T1D community over lunch, which will be provided at no cost. Whether you are family who is dealing with a new diagnosis, an adult who has lived with T1D for many years, a grandparent or caregiver, or a health care professional, there will be something for you! Students in grades K-12 are invited to participate in our Youth and Teen program running concurrently with the main program. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
