City of Gaithersburg Seeks Public’s Input on Lakeforest Redevelopment

The City of Gaithersburg is holding six virtual public forums to hear what the community would prefer to see at the Lakeforest property where a thriving mall once stood.

To assist with its update of the Lakeforest Master Plan, Gaithersburg has established an online survey that closes Nov. 6. It also will hold six public forums between Oct. 29 and Nov. 5.

Each session is limited to 30 people and will contain a presentation followed by a question and answer session on what residents value most for the area; how redevelopment can support social equity, diversity and sustainability; what is considered a successful redevelopment project; and how long people are willing to wait for the redevelopment.

The sessions will be held on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and Nov. 5 at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The master plan includes videos, maps, demographic data and will be updated throughout the updating process.
