Councilmember Friedson Announces Candidacy for County Executive

On Wednesday, County Councilmember and former Council President Andrew Friedson announced his candidacy for the office of County Executive. He is the third Councilmember to join the race with Evan Glass and Will Jawando.

Currently in his second term on the Council, Friedson chairs the Planning, Housing and Parks Committee. He also serves on the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee.

The youngest Councilmember ever elected, and the youngest Council President to serve, Friedson was born and bred in Montgomery County.

A lifelong Democrat, his campaign will focus on making the future more affordable for residents.

Here’s what he said in the press release launching his campaign:

“As someone who was born and raised here, I know the enormous promise of Montgomery County — but our economy is unacceptably stagnant, housing prices are out of control, and families are getting priced out. We can once again make Montgomery County a place that leads the region in economic growth, provides our students with a world-class education, and is accessible and welcoming to all.”

Friedson invites supporters to attend a grassroots kickoff event on June 22. To learn more about it click here.
