Montgomery County government will observe Memorial Day on Monday, May 26, with closures and service changes across departments. Memorial Day is a federal holiday honoring military personnel who died in service to the United States.
Most County offices and programs will be closed or operating on modified schedules. Residents should also note that County-provided trash and recycling collections will not occur on Monday; collections will slide one day for the remainder of the week, ending on Saturday, May 31. Public parking at County garages, lots, and meters will be free.

- Indoor aquatic centers—Closed.
Open on Memorial Day
- County liquor stores—All stores open 10 a.m.—5 p.m.
- Public parking garages, lots, curbside meters—Free.
- Outdoor pools—Open.
Transportation Schedule
- Ride On bus service—Will operate on a Sunday schedule. For routes that operate on Sunday, a Sunday schedule is provided.
- Ride On extRa route 101 (on Rockville Pike) and Flex bus service—Will not be in service.
- Ride On extRa Pink and Lime routes—Will operate on a Sunday schedule (every 30 minutes).
- Ride On Flash bus service—Will operate on a Weekend/Holiday schedule (Orange Route only). The Blue Route (typically, weekday only) will not be in service.
- TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center—Will be open 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
- TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store—Will be closed.
- Parking at Bethesda, Silver Spring and Wheaton public garages, lots and curbside meters—Will be free.

Open Parkways (for pedestrians and bicyclists only)
Select parkways will be closed to vehiles and open for recreation during the holiday weekend.

- Sligo Creek Parkway between Old Carroll Avenue and Piney Branch Road: Saturday, May 24, at 7 a.m. until Monday, May 26, at 6 p.m.
- Old Carroll Avenue and Piney Branch Road and between Forest Glen Road and University Boulevard West: Friday, May 23, at 9 a.m. until Monday, May 26, at 6 p.m.

Park Facility Closures
- Montgomery Parks Headquarters and Permits Offices—Closed.
- Montgomery Parks Customer Service Office—Closed.
- Pauline Betz Addie and Wheaton Indoor Tennis Centers–Closed, (Wheaton is also closed Saturday and Sunday, May 24‒25).
- Cabin John Ice Rink—Closed. (Ice rinks also closed Saturday and Sunday, May 24‒25).
- Wheaton Ice Arena facility is closed for renovations through October 2025.
- Indoor nature facilities—Brookside Nature Center, Locust Grove Nature Center, Black Discovery Center—Closed. (Trails and outdoor nature play areas remain open sunrise to sunset.)
