The Montgomery County Council will discuss and review the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) drafted by Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) in regards to police in schools.
The MOU would initiate a new version of police officers in schools. The Community Engagement Officer (CEO) 2.0 program designates work stations to officers at each high school, but they would not be permanently stationed there. In comparison to the previous School Resource Officer (SRO) program, the officers would not engage in school discipline.
Montgomery County Council President Gabe Albornoz said at his weekly media briefing that the council will have an opportunity to ask questions regarding the plan on Tuesday.
