Takoma Park Police released its 2023 annual report, which showed that there was a large uptick in larceny, shoplifting, assaults, thefts from autos and auto thefts as compared to 2022.
In 2023, there were no murders, 88 assaults, 95 burglaries, 543 larcenies, two rapes, 60 robberies, 83 auto thefts and 202 thefts from autos.
In 2022, there were two murders, 55 assaults, 90 burglaries, 321 larcenies, three rapes, 24 robberies, 53 auto thefts and 168 thefts from autos.
Slightly more than half of the crimes committed occurred in Ward 6.
