Domestic Violence Awareness Campaign Encourages Public to ‘Walk in Their Shoes’

Last year, five people in Montgomery County died from domestic violence, according to the Maryland Network Against Domestic Violence.

So far this year, five more residents have died. A new campaign aims to share stories and resources during Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October.  

On Tuesday, county agencies introduced the “Walk in Their Shoes” campaign in partnership with the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council.

The Montgomery County Family Justice Center is located at 600 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 500, in Rockville. Per the center’s website, all services are free and offered in any language. No appointments are needed and walk-ins are welcome. Anyone who is currently experiencing or who has experienced domestic violence is eligible for help. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m and the center’s phone number is 240-773-0444.
