Federal Families Served Free School Lunch as Government Shutdown Continues

As the federal government shutdown continues, furloughed workers who have children in Montgomery County Public Schools were invited to have lunch with their students at school Thursday.

“We just want to recognize our parents … and let them know they are appreciated,” said Robert Frost Middle School Principal Joey Jones, Ph.D., who also provided music and giveaways at the lunch.

MCM captured the morale-boosting meal, called Federal Family Lunch Day, as the shutdown entered its 37th day.
