Five Things to Know for June 26 in Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, June 26, and we are halfway through the week! Here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Racial Equity Community Conversation: There’s a Community Conversation on Racial Equity and Social Justice at 7 p.m. at BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. 2. MCPD, MCFRS Conducts Explosives Training: Residents in the Poolesville and Dickerson area may hear loud “boom” sounds between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Don’t be alarmed because of Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service’s Bomb Squad and Montgomery County Police Department are conducting an explosives training at the Outdoor Shooting Range located off of Elmer School Road in Dickerson.

3. Democratic Debate Watch Party: Councilmember Tom Hucker is hosting a watch party for tonight’s Democratic Primary Debate at Silver Branch Brewing Company in Silver Spring. The watch party is from 8 to 11 p.m. Here’s more information.

4. Ride On Flex Launches: County leaders are gathering at Rockville Town Square this morning at 10 a.m. to launch “Ride On Flex” — the first on-demand public transit service.

5 Thrive Week BeginsToday is the first day of Thrive Week in Montgomery County. The Montgomery County Planning Department and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission are holding five community events between June 26 and June 30, with the intention of crafting a 30-year plan for the future of Montgomery County. Today’s event is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Farmer’s Market, located in the rear parking lot of Johns Hopkins University’s Rockville campus.
