Five Things to Know for Oct. 25 in Montgomery County

Here are five things to know today, Oct. 25, in Montgomery County, Maryland:

1. State Golf State Finals: The last day of the State Golf Tournament takes place today at the University of Maryland College Park golf course. Good luck to Whitman, Churchill, Wootton, and Sherwood teams and the many individual players from Montgomery County.

2. Recreation News: The Coffield Recreation Center opens today at 9:30 a.m. for a full day of programming as the Red Cross shelter closed yesterday.

3. Bethesda Booming: Weather permitting, Bethesda residents could hear controlled blasts from 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. The explosions are part of the Rockville Pike Crossing Project near Walter Reed and the Medical Center Metro Station. A warning siren will sound about five minutes before the blast. Another siren will sound one minute before the blast.

4. School Board: The Board of Education has an evening meeting with the Council of Parent Teacher Associations. Here’s the agenda.

5. MoCo Pride Center launch party: The MoCo Pride Center is a new non-profit with a goal to serve the LGBTQ community in the county. During the launch party at Bar Louie at Rockville Town Center, the group will introduce their Board of Directors.
