Five Things to Know Today, Sept. 16, in Montgomery County

It’s Wednesday, Sept. 16, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Elrich/Gayles Weekly Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich and County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles will hold their weekly media briefing at 12:30 p.m. You can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD) and Facebook and County Cable Montgomery.

2. MCPS Town Hall: Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) and the Montgomery County Faith Community Advisory Council will have a family-focused town hall about virtual learning at 6:30 p.m. The virtual town hall will be on Zoom.

3. Committee Meetings: The County Government Operations & Fiscal Policy/Planning, Housing & Economic Development (GO/PHED) committees will meet virtually at 9:30 a.m. and the GO/Transportation & Environment (T&E) committees at 1:30 p.m. See agendas here.

4. Food Distribution: Those in need of food assistance can visit 31 Norwood Road in Silver Spring from 1-3 p.m. for boxed groceries and meals.

5. Senior Planet: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to Senior residents. Today’s classes include “Advanced Google Sheets – Lunch & Learn” and “Virtual Grandparenting.”
