Former Discovery Building Offered for Public Sale

The former 10-story Discovery Building in Silver Spring, once home to an inflatable shark on the roof representing Shark Week, will be offered for public sale Oct. 24.

JLL, a commercial real estate company in Bethesda, retained ACORE Capital Mortgage, a global real estate debt manager firm, which is selling the title and interest of the property.

CRE-FP Silver Spring Mezz, which is headquartered in Potomac but is a Delaware limited liability company, is the debtor company.

The Children’s National Health System currently leases space in the One Discovery building in Downtown Silver Spring.

Sale of the 545,429 square foot building begins at 11 a.m. both on Zoom and in person in front of the New York County Courthouse in New York City. It sits on a 3.49-acre lot.

The Discovery Channel moved its global headquarters to New York City in 2019. It opened in the late 1990s.
