Four Montgomery County students are changing the way their peers can pursue success. Sarthak Pal Mahajan (11th grader, Poolesville High School), Andrew Wang (12th grader, Allen High School), Jacob Lee (Freshman at Stanford), and Agneya Tharun (Freshman at Carnegie Mellon) are the founders of Klinn, an EdTech startup that makes it easier to cold email your way into an internship. From high schoolers to graduate students, Klinn is designed to help anyone land meaningful opportunities.
How Klinn Began
What started in July 2024 as a fun side project took off after the team interviewed a pre-med student at the University of Georgia struggling to find a clinical internship. That one conversation turned into a bigger idea. Soon, they were gathering data and building out the platform. And today, Klinn has already grown to over 20,000 users.
Students provide lots of feedback, and the verdict is clear: they love it. Just three weeks ago, the team launched new dashboards that make it easier to track enrollment and career readiness, which has already boosted engagement. As co-founder, Sarthak put it, “Students should send that cold email because asymmetric benefits take 5 minutes to write, but you could land an internship.”
Keeping Up with Klinn
He also added, “Schools that are interested in scheduling a demo can email me at sarthak@klinn.works.”
Right now, Jacob and Agneya juggle their freshman year of college with building Klinn, which isn’t easy with everyone’s busy schedules. But the team puts in the work to keep growing. Their next step starts with private schools in Maryland and eventually branches out further.
