Franchot Reminds Marylanders that Tax Filing Deadline Moved from April 15 to July 15

A reminder that April 15 is not tax day this year. That’s because Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot extended the state income tax filing deadline by three months until July 15, 2021.

“You won’t have any interest applied, you won’t have any penalties, you simply keep for 90 says the money that you owe the state of Maryland in your taxes and use it as a cushion. Small businesses and individuals, many of them are stressed by the pandemic,” said Comptroller Franchot during an interview with MyMCM on Thursday.

The federal deadline to file is May 17. Comptroller Franchot says all new tax forms will be added or updated by April 15th.
