The Montgomery County Department of Housing and Community Affairs, Services to End and Prevent Homelessness, the Housing Opportunities Commission and First Savings Mortgage will join Councilmember Andrew Friedson for a June 4 webinar on housing accessibility and affordability. The event is part of the United in Service and Support webinar series.
“Montgomery County is here to respond to help our neighbors who have been targeted by the Trump Administration’s chaotic destruction and dismantling of safety net programs,” said Friedson.
In March, the Trump administration terminated a $1 billion initiative to maintain affordable housing, an action that endangered thousands of efforts to protect access to homes, according to PBS.
“I am grateful to the expertise of our community partners joining me on this housing webinar to provide important information for affected residents feeling the negative impacts of these reckless and callous actions at the federal level,” said Friedson.
This session is part of a larger series of webinars hosted by the Council, focused on providing residents with resources on topics such as employment, immigration and health.
The webinar will be held on Zoom at 11:30 a.m. with live Spanish interpretation. Participants can join via this link and ask questions using a Q&A feature. The County Council will also broadcast the conversation on County Cable Montgomery and their YouTube channel. Residents can also submit inquiries about United in Service webinars at any time online.
