Gaithersburg Book Festival: A ‘Celebration of Books, Writers, Literary Excellence’

Fiction. Non-fiction. Children. Young Adult. Science Fiction. Memoirs. Poetry. Sports, History, Current Events. Biographies. The Gaithersburg Book Festival featured all these book genres and many of the authors who wrote them.

MyMCM talked to some of the featured artists on Saturday.

On a beautiful, clear day, humorist Dave Barry, New York Times reporter Andrea Elliott, historian Peter Cozzens, NPR’s Ari Shapiro and Mary Louise Kelly, Whitman High School teacher Alexandra Robbins and Washington Post‘s Alexandra Petri all spoke about their books and their writing processes to thousands of interested attendees.

MCM got to speak with a few of them and learned about Shapiro’s interviews with so many famous people during important events, and that Andrea Elliott’s book “Invisible Child,” is one of former President Barack Obama’s favorite books.

We learned that Anthony Marra, who wrote “Mercury Pictures Presents,” grew up in Chevy Chase and attended Landon School in Bethesda.
