A Saturday night shooting near one of Montgomery County’s busiest shopping and dining districts left one person hospitalized.
Montgomery County and Gaithersburg police officers responded to reports of gunfire around 7:10 p.m. in the 9800 block of Washingtonian Boulevard. The area surrounds Rio Lakefront, a popular destination filled with families enjoying the weekend, according to MCPD.
When officers arrived, they found one person inside a vehicle suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a local hospital.
As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made. Police said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Authorities have not released details about a possible suspect or motive. The investigation remains active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gaithersburg Police Department.
