Non-profit groups Live in Your Truth (LIYT) and Montgomery County Pride Center will host the annual “Back 2 School” Block Party featuring music, vendors, games and supplies giveaways on Friday, Aug. 22.
According to the LIYT website, the organizers aim to create an inclusive space for students while celebrating the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
The organizers seek community involvement in the event. Applications are open for those wishing to sponsor, table or volunteer at the party.
LIYT currently accepts donations of school supplies for students in need. They can be dropped off at Bethesda Chevy Chase Regional Service Center, Silver Spring Civic Center, Silver Spring United Methodist Church and the Nando’s Peri Peri at 924 Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring.
The event will take place at Veterans’ Plaza from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interested parties can register for the free event on the LIYT website.
