Montgomery Parks invites families to dive into the mud at the fifth annual Mudfest on Saturday, June 14. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woodstock Equestrian Special Park in Beallsville. Tickets cost $20 per car and can be purchased online at ActiveMontgomery or at the gate with cash.
Hosted by the Black Hill Discovery Center, Mudfest features giant, hand-prepared mud pits perfect for sliding and splashing. Parks staff screen the mud for safety and mix it to the ideal texture for mud sculptures and play. Attractions include a mud volcano, a mudslide, and a pop-up kitchen for making mud pies.
El Jefe Woodfired Pizza and Clayboy’s Shave Ice will offer food and drinks for sale. A DJ will play music, and vendors will sell souvenir T-shirts, toys and accessories. Guests should bring sleds, goggles, buckets, shovels and bags for muddy clothes.
Portable restrooms, hose-off stations and changing tents will be available. Pets must stay on leash and out of the mud. Organizers strongly recommend wearing closed-toe shoes.
