Non-profit group Preservation Maryland will present local connections to queer trailblazers at their upcoming “Planting the Rainbow Flag: Preserving LGBTQ History in Maryland” event.
On Thursday, July 10, Glenview Mansion will host Christiana Limniatis, Preservation and Outreach Manager for Preservation Maryland, as part of their 2025-2026 Speaker Series. Glenview holds this event in conjunction with Peerless Rockville, a group dedicated to conserving local history.
During the lecture, Limniatis will highlight the contributions of Marylanders to the LGBTQ community throughout history, and spotlight specific locations with connections to these events.
Limniatis will also present the first-ever LGBTQ Maryland Historic Context Study, a synopsis of scholarly texts and information on queer history, conducted by Preservation Maryland in 2020. She will also address advocacy efforts that preceded the work.
The talk will begin at 8:00 p.m. Register for this free event on Eventbrite.
