Scott Goldberg, an attorney who has served on many county and nonprofit boards, announced his bid for an At-Large seat on the county council. He is running on the Democratic ticket.
“If we’re not an affordable place to live, we cannot say we’re inclusive,” he said in a news release.
If elected, Goldberg said he would focus on education, housing and “creating an ecosystem to grow a vibrant economy so workers can get and through the middle class.”
He is an attorney, small business owner and substitute teacher at Montgomery County Public Schools and serves on the board of directors for the Montgomery Parks Foundation, the YMCA of Silver Spring, Montgomery County Workforce Development and the Bethesda Chamber of Commerce.
He previously chaired the Montgomery County Democratic Party and Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland School of Law.
He lives in Silver Spring with his wife and two children.
County Executive Marc Elrich also has announced he will run for an At-Large seat.
