Gov. Moore Announces Streamlined Benefits Application Process

On Tuesday, Governor Wes Moore announced the new Maryland Benefits One Application. It’s designed to help Maryland residents apply for benefits.

“The One Application ensures the people of our state can apply for food, cash, and emergency assistance through a single, accessible one-stop shop,” Moore said in his announcement. “At a time when the federal government is walking back support for veterans, seniors, disabled residents, and working families, Maryland is proving there’s a better way.”

According to the announcement completion of the One Application takes an average of 28 minutes. Additionally, residents can now fill out their applications via smartphone.

The application marks one way the Maryland Department of Information Technology is working to “identify cross-cutting opportunities to better serve Marylanders,” said Maryland Department of Information Technology Secretary Katie Savage.

Applicants can interface with a number of services now supported by the One Application:

  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • Women, Infants, Children (WIC) programming
