Dr. Andrew Martire was named Head of School at Landon School, a private boys’ schools in Bethesda. He will assume his new role in July of 2026.
Jim Neill will continue as Head of School until his retirement at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year next June. Neill has led the school since July 2015.
“I’m truly honored to have the opportunity to lead Landon School,” said Martire, who will become the school’s seventh leader since its founding in 1929.
“It is a school that has rich and meaningful traditions, and at the same time a commitment to excellence in educating boys,” he said. “Boys’ schools create an ideal environment for boys to develop and reach their full potential.”
Martire is a graduate of Gilman School in Baltimore and that is where he had his first teaching job. He also coached football and basketball there, advancing to serve in leadership roles as dean of students and directed the school’s financial aid and summer programs.
After Gilman, Martire began a 20-year career as a Head of School, first at Calvert School in Baltimore and then at The Kinkaid School in Houston. He is currently the Head of School at The Tatnall School in Delaware.
He was selected by a search committee and confirmed by the school’s board of trustees.
