Lee Found Guilty in Stabbing Death in Rockville

A Montgomery County Circuit Court jury convicted Jamie Havier Lee, 43, of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Cornelius Lyon, 36, on Monday.

Lee, whose address is unconfirmed, faces up to 40 years in prison. He will be sentenced July 28.

On May 2, 2020, Montgomery County and Rockville City police responded to the 100 block of Frederick Avenue in Rockville and found Lyon lying on the ground. He was deceased.

Police reported that they learned from witnesses that Lyon had walked in the area attempting to to get help after being stabbed inside a nearby apartment in the 700 block of Lenmore Avenue.

According to the witnesses, a group of men were inside the apartment when a fight broke out over $20. The two men argued, and then Lee stabbed Lyon in the face, chest, left arm and back, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorneys office.

Lee was located at Veirs Mill Road and First Avenue. Police located the apartment where the fight occurred by following a trail of blood left by the victim.

Lee originally was charged with first-degree murder.
