‘Lucky Woman’ from Gaithersburg Wins $50,000 Top Prize in Maryland Lottery

A Gaithersburg woman became $50,000 richer playing the Maryland Lottery $50,000 Cash scratch-off game.

The 51-year-old recently visited the lottery headquarters in Baltimore to pick up her winnings. Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous and she selected the nickname “Lucky Woman” to tell her story.

Lucky Woman plays lottery games weekly with her husband and lately has been playing scratch-off games. On her way home, she stopped at the Silver Spring 7-Eleven on Georgia Avenue for a few items including scratch-off tickets. Along with a few other games, Lucky Woman purchased a $50,000 Cash ticket for $20.

She realized she won the top prize of $50,000 and told lottery officials, “I screamed because I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy.” She shared the news with her husband and two daughters.

Lucky Woman told lottery officials she plans to buy a new car with her winnings.

The 7-Eleven located at 7980 Georgia Avenue receives a $500 bonus from the lottery for selling the $50,000 winning ticket.
