Man Dead After Single-Car Crash on Connecticut Avenue

Part of Connecticut Avenue was temporarily closed Tuesday morning following a fatal single-car crash.

There was a crash around 4 a.m. at Connecticut Avenue and Adams Drive in Kensington, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. A person suffered traumatic injury after being trapped and removed from the wreck.

The man later died at a hospital, according to Montgomery County Police. He was the only occupant in the car. Police said he was driving a 2018 Honda Fit, crossed the median into southbound Connecticut Avenue, and struck a utility box and pole.

Northbound and southbound lanes of Connecticut Avenue were closed in the area and have since reopened to traffic.
