Man Sentenced to 55 Years For 2021 Germantown Murder

A Frederick man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for shooting and killing a man in a Germantown apartment in 2021.

Mario Samm, 32, was sentenced to 60 years with all but 55 years suspended, plus five years of probation after release, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office (MCSAO).

In Jan. 2022, Montgomery County Police announced Samm had been arrested for the Dec. 23, 2021 homicide.

According to MCSAO, Samm fired seven rounds from two firearms and struck 25-year-old Jahandar Darvish three times inside Darvish’s apartment on Circle Gate Drive in Germantown.

One bullet went through the floor into an apartment below, according to MCSAO.

According to MCSAO, the investigation found social media posts of Samm in the weeks before the crime that showed him with a gun believed to be used in the shooting.
Samm was convicted by jury in April for second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence.
