MoCo Pride Center is hosting Pride Prom on May 12 at the Activity Center at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg.
The prom, which starts at 7 p.m., is open to high-school aged and community college students who are under the age of 21 and “who want to proudly attend prom, dress however they are most comfortable, and dance -without fear – with whomever they choose,” according to their news release.
There will be a live DJ, giveaways and games. Botanero’s Restaurant in Rockville will cater the event.
MoCo Pride Prom was first held in 2016.
“We started this event on a shoestring budget, with most of the financial support coming from a small few, including myself,” said Janine Rauscher, MoCo Pride Prom committee chair in a news release, “but I believed in what we were doing and knew we just needed to get it up and running and then others would join in support.”
