MCDOT Holds Public Meeting on Randolph Road Safety Plans

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a hybrid public meeting on Tuesday, June 17, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss pedestrian safety improvements on Randolph Road. The in person meeting will take place in the Wheaton High School cafeteria, located at 12401 Dalewood Drive in Silver Spring.

Participants may register online to attend virtually. Upon registration, MCDOT will email the meeting link.

MCDOT plans to improve 1.3 miles of Randolph Road between Georgia Avenue and Connecticut Avenue. This stretch falls within the Vision Zero High Injury Network, which prioritizes safety enhancements in areas with high crash rates.

In 2023, MCDOT conducted a Pedestrian Road Safety Audit of the corridor and identified several needed improvements. The department plans to implement short-term countermeasures to reduce vehicle speeds, enhance pedestrian safety and comfort, and improve ADA compliance and accessibility.

MCDOT will share project details, respond to questions, and collect public comments that may influence the final project design. Staff will also present longer-term strategies and gather public input during the meeting.
