With Monday’s early-release day due to thunderstorms and recent string of snow days, Montgomery County Public Schools is adjusting its calendar.
April 15, which had been a non-instructional day for teachers to grade and plan at the end of the marking period, is now an early-release day. The marking period will still end April 14, but grade reporting won’t be finalized until April 20.
March 20 is a non-instructional day for students, following a Feb. 19 Board of Education vote.
Currently, the last day of school is set for June 26.
Meanwhile, MCPS has asked for a waiver from the state-mandated 180 days of school rule with the goal of ending the school year earlier in June. MCPS suggested there “will likely be another message about our calendar before Spring Break.”
In case you missed it: MCPS is making adjustments to the 2025–2026 school year calendar while working with the Maryland State Department of Education to maintain instructional time and seek flexibility from the state.
