Montgomery College’s Cultural Arts Center has announced new programs for local artists. The two opportunities include the Cultural Arts Incubator and the Cultural Arts Curatorial Fellowship.
The Cultural Arts Incubator will provide three performing artists with a $5,000 stipend, rehearsal space throughout the academic year, and support in putting on a fully produced performance in the spring.
The Cultural Arts Curatorial Fellowship will provide two individuals interested in delving into the world of performing arts a $2,000 stipend, a budget of $3,000 for various events, and professional development resources.
Applications for both opportunities are due on Sunday, July 20, at 11:59pm
Jason Bruffy, director of Montgomery College’s Cultural Arts Center, highlights the need for spaces for artists to be able to experiment with new projects and ideas. He hopes these programs will also help bridge the gap between students and the local community so that they can come together in appreciation and support of new art forms. Bruffy is excited for artists to get the opportunity to experiment with different forms and disciplines of performance art.
His advice to artists interested in applying is to “Dream big,” and to “Not be afraid of audacious ideas.”
