Montgomery Community Media (MCM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Markette Sheppard as its new Director of News and Public Information, ushering in a bold new era of community-driven storytelling.
Sheppard’s arrival comes as MCM launches its new strategic plan, built on the organization’s refreshed mission of connecting people and vision of helping people live their best lives. In her role, she will lead the development of fresh, innovative news programming that informs, inspires, and strengthens the Montgomery County community.
An Emmy award–winning journalist, media executive, and author, Sheppard brings more than 15 years of experience across television, radio, digital media, and nonprofit organizations. She is best known for hosting a morning show on WUSA 9 and for executive producing and hosting a children’s literacy program on KLCS, the PBS education station in Los Angeles. Most recently, she oversaw film, podcast, and marketing for national and global brands, and contributed to the advocacy campaign that helped save the daily news operation at Prince George’s Community Television.
