Montgomery Parks Looking For Community Input for New Skate Parks

Now is your chance to help Montgomery Parks shape five new skate parks!

Montgomery Parks says this is part of their long-term plan to make these new skate parks attractive to skateboarders and other users of all ages and abilities. To help make this possible, they are asking for the community’s ideas and input on features they would like to see.

“We want to make Montgomery Parks a skateboarding destination in Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region while providing quality neighborhood amenities for local skaters,” said Christie Ciabotti, project manager for the skate park study. “Input from skate park users–including survey data–will help us build the best skate parks possible.”

A survey open now until Sept. 30 that asks questions such as “What mixture of difficulty would you like to see at your local skate park? What makes you feel welcome in a skate park? What are your preferred supporting amenities in/near a skate park?

The five parks they are planning to build are:

  • Ovid Hazen Wells Recreational Park Skate Park
  • Wheaton Regional Park Adventure Sports Park
  • Long Branch Local Park Skate Park
  • Newport Mill Skate Park
  • South Germantown Recreational Park Skate Park

As part of their summer public outreach campaign, Montgomery Parks members also will be attending skating events to engage with the community.
