
Montgomery County’s own James Wood has been named to his first Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Team. This is the 22-year old’s first full season playing in the Majors with the Nationals.
Born in Rockville Woods grew up in Olney before transferring to the International Management Group Academy in Florida following his sophomore year of High School. He played for Mississippi State and was a second-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft.
He signed with the San Diego Padres before being traded to the Washington Nationals in 2022. He made his Major League debut on July 1, 2024.
