New Street Parking Hours in Wheaton, Silver Spring Take Effect Friday

The hours drivers must pay for street parking in Silver Spring and Wheaton will get a bit longer starting Friday, April 1.

Silver Spring on-street parking hours are currently Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Starting Friday, the hours extend to 10 p.m. during the week.

Currently, street meters in Wheaton require payment Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Starting Friday, the new hours in Wheaton will be 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. all six days.

Rate increases at county-operated garages, parking lots, and street meters were first announced in December, 2021. On Jan. 3, increases in rates at Bethesda lots and garages took place as well as increases in rates for Wheaton garages and street parking. The following week on Jan. 10, the hourly rates and new hours requiring payment at Wheaton lots went into effect. The hours requiring payment at some Silver Spring garages were extended on Jan. 18.

The extension of the hours for street parking in Silver Spring and Wheaton on April 1 will complete the changes announced in December.
