New website debuts for entrepreneurs, startups in Montgomery County

WorkSource Montgomery (WSM) launches a new website aimed at helping entrepreneurs, small business and employers on Thursday, Oct. 1.

According to WSM, the site was developed in partnership with the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC). It will help connect businesses with resources and support available throughout the county.

The Montgomery County Business Resource Directory (MOCO BRD) looks to strengthen connections across the county’s business community.

WSM Director of Communications Laura Moreno-Davis told MCM the site will serve as a one stop shop for startups. She touted the resource as one of the first of its kind in the region. Moreno-Davis also cited the new site as a good “community asset map” for former federal workers looking to open up their own enterprise.

Anthony Featherstone, WSM CEO and President hailed the innovative online destination as a problem solver. “Montgomery County is home to a wide range of organizations and resources dedicated to helping businesses start, grow, and succeed. However, navigating these resources can prove challenging for our small business community.”

Pointing to the county’s “vibrant business community,” Jared Smith, President and CEO of MCEDC added, “We wanted to make it easier for companies and entrepreneurs to find the right support when they need it, whether they are looking to launch a new business or grow an existing one. The Montgomery County BRD brings these resources together in one place, making it easier for businesses to discover and take advantage of all that the County has to offer.”
