In Montgomery County there were more than a dozen planned ‘No Kings’ rallies spanning from Takoma Park along the busy New Hampshire Avenue Corridor near Sligo Creek to Bethesda near Rockville Pike, to Connecticut Avenue in Chevy Chase and into Olney.
An estimated 7 million people participated in protests against the Trump Administration at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, according to the ‘No Kings’ movement on Saturday, Oct. 18 designated as ‘No Kings Day’ in the United States.
Maryland’s Democratic Sens. Angela Alsobrooks and Chris Van Hollen spoke at the protest in Bethesda, while local officials, including Council Member Evan Glass, attended events throughout the county.
“Here in Olney, this is an incredible turnout. Neighbors are coming together to make sure that we fight for our democracy, fight for quality of life and fight for our neighbors,” Council Member Evan Glass told MCM. “We want to make sure that Montgomery County remains a safe and welcoming place, and this place has turned out. Way to go, Olney.”
The ‘No Kings’ movement plans its next event for this Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern time online.
