Police Seek to Identify Suspect in Attempted Sexual Assault in Silver Spring

Update: In an update May 2, police stated the wanted suspect was arrested. Christopher Love, 27, was taken into custody May 1 and faces charges of attempted first-degree rape, home invasion, first and second-degree assault, and third-degree sex offense, according to police. Love is currently being held without bond.

Original: Investigators seek to identify a suspect who police said tried to sexually assault a woman in the 9200 block of Second Avenue in Silver Spring on Tuesday.

Detectives ask neighbors with home security cameras who may have captured images of the suspect to call 240-773-5050.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, a woman was entering her home at the address on Tuesday at about 7:55 p.m.

A male suspect confronted her, entered her home, and started to physically assault her, according to police. He tried to sexually assault the woman, police said, but she fought back and the suspect ran. Police described the suspect as “a Black male, between 5-feet, 10 inches and 5-feet, 11-inches, approximately 20-years-old, thin build and wearing dark clothing.”
