Poolesville Residents React to Latest Twist in White’s Ferry Stalement

Last week the latest efforts to reopen White’s Ferry to commuters and locals collapsed when the Virginia owner, Rockland Farm, rejected the million dollar plus offer of a coalition including current owner Chuck Kuhn. After more than two years of waiting, residents of Poolesville have mixed reactions to the latest twist in the fate of White’s Ferry.

MyMCM visited the area to talk with two prominent members of the community about the ongoing stalemate.

Based on studies the Fair Access Committee has done on other ferry models, Link Hoewing suggests the county establish a transportation authority. That agency could handle all the day-to-day aspects of running the vessel.  The authority would not be funded by taxpayers but would instead be funded by the fees from ferry operations.
