To the relief of parents all over the county, Montgomery County Public Schools will open on time on Thursday.
The Code Green for normal operations was announced shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Before and after-school childcare programs and community use will occur as scheduled.
MCPS included this note for parents:
“Our goal with this recent massive snow and ice event is the same any time we have an interruption to learning – get back to normal as quickly and as safely as possible. We know that this snow and ice event was particularly frustrating and a lot longer than normal weather interruptions. No doubt about it – this one was unique (We all learned a new term: “snowcrete”). With this colossal storm, the disruption to family schedules was significant. We share your frustration with all of this! “
As the press release stated, “Good news, finally! A full day of school!
