A popular birdwatching and hiking park in the City of Rockville was awarded $1.5 million from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources’ Land and Water Conservation Fund for renovations.
This grant is part of a total of $12 million that Rockville has received to support outdoor recreation, according to Mayor Monique Ashton and city councilmembers.
The 130-acre RedGate Park, which used to be a golf course, is located at Norbeck and Avery roads.
The money will be used to support design, grading, excavation, utilities installation, pathway construction, a playground, meadow restoration, community gardens, picnic tables, signage and trash cans at the park, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
