Rockville Man Charged With Attempted First-Degree Murder

Rockville resident Wesley Walker Jr., 68, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder in connection with a shooting April 10 in the 300 block of North Washington Street at 10:55 p.m.

Rockville City Polie officers found an adult male suffering from a single gunshot wound and other non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was treated and released at the scene by Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel.

The suspect fled on foot but later was arrested by police.

Walker is prohibited from possessing firearms. During a search at his home, police found a Bersa Thunder .380 caliber handgun and ammunition.

Besides attempted first-degree murder, Walker is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, possession of a loaded handgun, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

He is being held without bond pending a hearing. His preliminary hearing is set for May 10.
