Shepherd’s Table Executive Director to Step Down

Executive Director Manny Hidalgo will leave Shepherd’s Table after six years leading this nonprofit in Silver Spring that helps the less fortunate.

Hidalgo will step down at the end of July.

“We are grateful for Manny’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Shepherd’s Table community over the past six years,” Board Chair Sonya Snedecor said.

During his tenure, Hidalgo doubled the budget and staff and navigated the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic. He also oversaw Shepherd’s Table’s response to a 30% increase in demand for meals from 2019 to 2025, according to a news release.

He launched four innovative programs: a Culinary Skills Training Program, an Advocacy Program, an Urban Farm Program, and the Beyond the Table Mobile Meals Program which, in three years, has earned more than $300,000 in unrestricted program-related income.

“Working with the staff of Shepherd’s Table has been one of most meaningful experiences of my life,” Hidalgo. “Their dedication to the mission of Shepherd’s Table is exemplary, and I will miss working in the trenches with them immensely.”

A search committee has retained LeaderFit, a national executive search firm with deep ties to the area, to identify a successor.

In 2024, Shepherd’s Table served more than 168,000 hot meals to people experiencing hunger and homelessness, along with other services.
