
On Friday, Torrey Damien Moore, 34, of Silver Spring, was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences and 80 years in prison, to be served concurrently.
Moore was found guilty on May 16, 2024, of the first-degree murder of Dash In convenience store clerk 61-year-old Ayalew Wondimu. In addition, he was charged with illegal possession of a firearm.
According to a press release sent by the State’s Attorney’s Office, while investigating the death of Wondimu, police executed a no-knock search warrant at Moore’s apartment on Oak Leaf Drive in White Oak on December 9, 2022.
Inside they found Moore with a gun. They also found the bodies of Denise Middleton and her unborn fetus who were in advanced stages of decomposition. The last known images of Middleton were captured on surveillance cameras on October 9, 2022.
Moore was found guilty of murdering Middleton in November of 2024.
This case marks the first time in the history of Montgomery County jurisprudence that a conviction was rendered in the death of a viable fetus.
