Silver Spring Teen Charged with Making Bomb Threats

A 17-year-old Silver Spring resident was charged with calling in two bomb threats against a Rockville company.

According to Montgomery County Police, the phone calls were made on Thursday, Oct. 23 against Rockville Internal Medicine on Seven Locks Road.

What Happened

On that morning, the medical group practice received two phone calls within two minutes of each other.  The police believe the same person made both calls. The caller stated there was a bomb in their building.

The business was evacuated. Montgomery County Police, Rockville City Police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel went to the scene. The threat was deemed not valid.

Police Find Suspect

Following an investigation by the Police Behavioral Assessment and Administrative Unit, a 17-year-old boy was identified as the caller. He was charged with threats of mass violence, telephone misuse, threats of arson and providing false statements– concerning a destructive device or toxic material. The Department of Juvenile Services will process his legal case.
