Sports & Social at Pike and Rose in North Bethesda has become the first sports betting venue in Montgomery County.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony occurred Thursday with visits from FanDuel’s Vice President of Retail Operations Jeff Lowich, County councilmembers Natali Fani-Gonzalez, Dawn Luedtke, Laurie-Anne Sayles and former Washington Commanders players Santana Moss and Dexter Manley who were given the honor of placing the first bets.

Last week, Whitman Gaming Inc. received a license from the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission to permit sports betting through FanDuel at Sports & Social.

Customers will have the ability to bet through self-serve kiosks or at the retail window. Sports & Social employees must watch bets before they are placed to follow in accordance with the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission’s standards.

Additionally, the state is requiring 15% of Sports & Social’s taxable wins. The proceeds will go to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

Sports & Social offers a place for people to eat and drink while betting and watching sports games. The menu includes burgers, steak, tacos, fish, and salads. They also offer beers, cocktails, wines, and non-alcoholic drinks.
