Walt Whitman girls basketball continued their amazing season with a 50-38 win over C.H. Flowers in the Class 4A Maryland state semifinals. Whitman closed out Flowers with a 10-2 run in the fourth quarter to advance to the title game.
Whitman improves to a school record 25-0 and will face Richard Montgomery for the public school state championship on March 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Richard Montgomery advanced to the Maryland state title for the first time since 1996, with a 57-56 win over Western. The Rockets have won seven straight games since losing to Whitman in the regular season, 78-55.
