Strathmore Announces Free Summer Concert Lineup

The Strathmore announced the lineup for their free summer concert series, “Live from the Lawn.” Musicians playing everything from reggae-style Beatles covers to folk and Afrofunk music will perform at The Gudelsky Gazebo. 

Strathmore will also host “Cool Concerts for Kids” on Thursdays. The one-hour performances run for 60 minutes with no intermission, allowing families to get home early.

Yellow Dubmarine: A Reggae Tribute to the Beatles
Wednesday, July 9 at 7:00 p.m.
 The DC-based tribute band reimagines music from the classic rock group, incorporating the reggae sub-genre of Jamaican dub. The show will also feature an opening set from the InterPLAY Orchestra.

Divi Roxx Kids  Cool Concert for Kids
Thursday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m.
 The Grammy-nominated children’s artist plays an interactive show of music with positive messages for children.

JigJam
Wednesday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m.
JigJam, a four-piece band of Irish musicians, performs their signature style of “iGrass music,” a style that combines bluegrass and Irish and Americana folk.

Old Time Music and Dance Party with Becky Hill, Rachel Eddy and Friends  Cool Concert for Kids
Thursday, July 17 at 7:00 p.m.
 Becky Hill, a former Strathmore Artist in residence, performs Appalachian folk music with fiddler and banjo player Rachel Eddy. The show will feature several dance elements, including flatfooting, clog stepping and square dancing.

Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band
Wednesday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m.
The 11-piece big band will perform music that blends West African beats and American pop music.

Lucy Kalantari and the Jazz Cats    Cool Concert for Kids
Thursday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m.
The Grammy award-winning children’s artists perform jazz music with lyrics in English and Spanish.

Rainbow Girls
Wednesday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m.
The folk trio incorporates elements of funk, rock and soul into their music. Each member plays multiple instruments, and their songs incorporate guitar, bass, mandolin, harmonica and more.

Elida Almeida
Wednesday, August 6 at 7:30 p.m.         

Vocalist Elida Almeida performs Cabo Verdean music, incorporating traditional beats from the genre into her original songs.

UkeFest Finale
Wednesday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m.                                                                                                                                                                         

 Strathmore hosts the finale to their 17th annual UkeFest. The night will start with a ukulele strum-along featuring both performers and audience members before the performance begins at 7:30. Featured performers include Jim Beloff, Steve Espaniola, Cathy Fink, Aaron Keim, Marcy Marxer and Jeff Peterson.

Juliet Lloyd Band
Wednesday, August 20 at 7:30 p.m.
 Maryland singer-songwriter Juliet Lloyd will take the stage, performing music in multiple genres including soul, folk, pop and rock.
